Transfer the design on to the centre of the front of the bag using your preferred method.

Place Bondaweb paper side up over the transfer DQG WUDFH WKH FRFRQXW VKHOO FRFRQXW HVK DQG juice as separate pieces. These will be traced in reverse using the transfer, which you need to do when working Bondaweb appliqué. Press these on to the wrong sides (WS) of the appliqué fabric: linen for the shell, white for the coconut and coral for the juice.

Cut around the drawn lines of the shell. Cut the coconut and juice shapes just a few mm outside the drawn line so they can overlap each other once placed. Peel off the paper backing, then place these right sides (RS) up on top of the RS of the bag outer using the transferred lines to position them correctly. 3ODFH WKH FRFRQXW UVW WKHQ WKH MXLFH SLHFH WKHQ WKH VKHOO 7R KROG WKHP UPO\ LQWR SODFH VWLWFK DURXQG the edge of each of them in Blanket Stitch using two strands of thread to match the fabric. 3UHVV WR WUDQVIHU MXVW WKH RZHU RQWR SLQN cotton fabric and embroider using two strands throughout: light pink Long and Short Stitch for the outer petal edges and medium pink for the inner petal edges. Work the stamens in Straight Stitch with French Knots at the ends using two strands of dark pink. Press Bondaweb, paper side up, over the back, then cut around WKH RZHU PP RXWVLGH WKH HGJH RI WKH VWLWFKLQJ

Parts of the leaf, umbrella and straw will now be covered up by some of the appliqué, so draw these back in using an erasable pen, by copying the transfer. Embroider the remainder of the design as follows: Leaf Stem: green Chain Stitch in six strands.

Leaves: green Fishbone Stitch, in four strands.

Umbrella: Satin Stitch stripes in turquoise and blue using four strands.

Straw: Satin Stitch alternating stripes in yellow and gold using two strands. Outline the straw in Backstitch using two strands of yellow.

Lettering: Backstitch in four strands of medium pink. Coconut highlights: Backstitch in two strands of brown. 5HPRYH WKH SDSHU EDFNLQJ IURP WKH RZHU and press into place on top of the embroidery, referring to the transfer for placement. Stitch into place in Blanket Stitch using one strand of light pink.
