Opera company celebrates 40 years on stage

-

CLONTER Opera is celebrating forty years of opera and music making with a new production.

A tale of devilish pacts in the pursuit of pleasure, Clonter’s anniversary version of Gounod’s Faust has been specially created and inspired by the exotic, irreverent and risque styling of Paris, with its voracious appetites and love of excess.

Starting out as a sort of operatic Glastonbury, Clonter, based at Clonter Opera Farm, has grown into a purpose-built theatre with restaurants and bars, as well as attractive gardens where audiences can picnic.

Clonter promotes some of the most exciting emerging young talent in the industry.

Isabella Lockett, head of administration and marketing for Clonter, said: “Clonter’s anniversary production of Faust went down a storm with record audience numbers attending the Opera Novice opening night. People picnicked outside, enjoying the glorious summer evening, and at the end of the opening night superlative comments were to be heard as people left.”

For those who might have missed the play’s first few nights, there will be another performance on Saturday, September 27, starting at 7pm.

Ticket prices range from a cost of £30 to £65, and during the performance there will also be a 70 minute supper interval.

To book tickets, for more information or to reserve a picnic table call the box office on 01260 224 514 or book online at clonteropera. com.
