Music festival across several venues will hit the right note
A SPECIALLY written piece of music to commemorate the 100th anniversay of the First World War is to be perforned at a forthcoming music festival.
Springboard Poynton: Music For All will be held in 12 venues from September 26-28.
It will include pop, rock, Americana, choral, brass, jazz and classical concerts from 30 artists, groups and choirs.
Friday September 26: Willows Suite, Park Lane – a night of Americana music featuring Andrew Liddie’s trio Desert Wind supported by Les Renshaw, John Stirling and Dave Dailey.
Saturday September 27: The ‘Live on Park Lane’ stage – Poynton Youth Brass band and Poynton High School Concert Band; Poynton Workmen’s Club – Monkey Harris; St. George’s Church – CantataChoirs and St George’s Singers; Poynton Legion Club – Mart Rodger Manchester Jazz; Poynton Methodist Church – Poynton Male Voice Choir, Poynton British Legion Band with the Gilbert and Sullivan Singers, and Vernon Building Society Poynton Brass Band.
There will also be music workshops at Poynton Community Centre and events at Poynton Baptist Church, The Cask Tavern, The Acoustic Lounge and the AnsonMuseum.
Sunday September 28: Poynton Railway Station – A First World War commemorative performance of It’ll All Be Over By Christmas written by Matt Baker and HelenNewall.
During the weekend there will be street and venue collections for Springboard’s chosen charity, the National Eczema Society.
