Church urges residents to donate cartridges and help environment
ST Peter’s in Prestbury is urging people to recycle their old printer catridges and help raise funds for the church.
St Peter’s is now registered with the Recycle 4 Charity to drum up money at no cost to you and while helping the environment at the same time.
Recycling inkjet cartridges and mobile phones also means less bio-degradable components being dumped in landfill sites. Any item not able to be recycled or recovered will be turned into energy.
The church can’t accept Kodak or Epson cartridges as these are actually “inktanks” without a circuit board on the bottom and it is the circuit board which gives a cartridge its recycling value.
Damaged and refilled cartridges are not recyclable either, nor are cartridges filled for another brand such as Tesco or PC World.
To check if your cartridges can be recycled please visit www. recycle4charity.co.uk/ inkjetcartridges and click on “wanted list”.
For each cartridge recycled, St Peter’s receives £1. Old mobile phones may also be donated; as the church receives 50 per cent of their market value up to a maximum of £70.
You can donate at the recycling box at the back of church, or you can bring items into the Parish Office on weekdays from 9am to 12pm.
Judith Davies, the parish administrator, said: “The church is also asking people to keep their old stamps to donate to the church, they can do so at the parish office.
“Not only does donating cartridges raise money for us, but its benefitting the environment too. These donations help with the upkeep of the church and so are very welcome.”
