And with Glen Valentine,Neil Podmore and Mark Billing all winning 2-0 Jackson and Goda then took care of Derek Turner and Rob Gibbs in the doubles to complete the perfect evening’s work. But from that point Steve Clarke, Tec Leach and Steve Kimpton chalked up wins to see out a 6-1 win.
NAGS B 0-7 BRITISH FLAG
British Flag travelled to the Nags on Monday night for an encounter with their B team. But a one sided affair saw them return home after whitewashing the Nags. Nigel Steele put in a standout performance, converting a 180 into a 17-dart leg. Clive Poole and Andrew Potts won close-fought matches, and Mick Newton, Mark Barber and Mark Whitehurst all came through in an impressive 7-0 hammering that drove the Flag into the midtable area.
QUEENS B 4-3 BROKEN CROSS
Level on points with the same amount of match wins these teams looked set for a tough struggle and that’s how it turned out. Queens’ Dave Higginbotham edged out Martin McDonnell, courtesy of a 180 and an 18-dart leg. Tommi Ludwicki then made light work of Dave Nelson for a 2-0 lead, halved by Neil Ridgeway’s win over Andy McKeith. Mark Cairney then took down Mike Hunter to make it 2-2. The teams exchanged wins through Ashley Jones and Bob Wilkins to make it 3-3 going into the doubles. Higginbotham and Hunter finally broke the suspense with victory in that decider to break the Broken Cross’ hearts.
