Macc Lions an­nual con­cert hailed roar­ing suc­cess af­ter rais­ing £1k

A VOL­UN­TARY group helped raised £1,000 with its an­nual con­cert.

Mac­cles­field & District Lions Club held an event at King’s School and it fea­tured the Lions Youth Brass band.

The cash raised will help the Lions con­tinue its work help­ing in­di­vid­u­als, com­mu­nity groups and lo­cal and na­tional char­i­ties.

Last month out­go­ing Pres­i­dent Barry Cooper handed over the chain of of­fice to in­com­ing presi- dent Ches Orme.

At the same event the group pre­sented the Lion of the Year, awarded to their youngest mem­ber Christo­pher Oatway, who joined the club on his 18th birth­day and is now sec­re­tary at the age of 22.

Com­monly known as ‘Macc Lions’, the group has be­ing run­ning for the past 40 years and raise around £18,000 ev­ery year. It meets ev­ery first and third Mon­day even­ing at the Hollin Hall Ho­tel in Ker­ridge.
