Macc Lions annual concert hailed roaring success after raising £1k
A VOLUNTARY group helped raised £1,000 with its annual concert.
Macclesfield & District Lions Club held an event at King’s School and it featured the Lions Youth Brass band.
The cash raised will help the Lions continue its work helping individuals, community groups and local and national charities.
Last month outgoing President Barry Cooper handed over the chain of office to incoming presi- dent Ches Orme.
At the same event the group presented the Lion of the Year, awarded to their youngest member Christopher Oatway, who joined the club on his 18th birthday and is now secretary at the age of 22.
Commonly known as ‘Macc Lions’, the group has being running for the past 40 years and raise around £18,000 every year. It meets every first and third Monday evening at the Hollin Hall Hotel in Kerridge.
