Di­ver­sion in place as road­works close street for about three months

●● COUN­CIL chiefs are propos­ing to shut off a road for 18 months for ex­ca­va­tion works.

Cheshire East Coun­cil will close Gar­den Street in Hurds­field between num­bers 93 and 75. It will al­low con­trac­tors to carry out ex­ca­va­tion works with vary­ing depths.

A traf­fic di­ver­sion is in place in a clock­wise di­rec­tion via Ni­chol­son Av­enue, Queens Av­enue, Hurds­field Road. The anti-clock­wise di­rec­tion will go via Steeple Street, Hurds­field Road, Queens Av­enue and Ni­chol­son Av­enue.

Pedes­trian ac­cess will be main­tained at all times. The work was due to start on Au­gust 18 and could take less than three months. How­ever the or­der will be in force for up to 18 months. ●● BRO­KEN Cross Club is to host an even­ing of mu­sic this Satur­day.

Julieanna will take the au­di­ence back to the First World War in the first of a four-part show.

This will be fol­lowed by songs form the 40s and then a se­lec­tion of tunes from the West End. The show will fin­ish with some pop­u­lar dance hits.

Doors open at 8pm.
