Diversion in place as roadworks close street for about three months

●● COUNCIL chiefs are proposing to shut off a road for 18 months for excavation works.

Cheshire East Council will close Garden Street in Hurdsfield between numbers 93 and 75. It will allow contractor­s to carry out excavation works with varying depths.

A traffic diversion is in place in a clockwise direction via Nicholson Avenue, Queens Avenue, Hurdsfield Road. The anti-clockwise direction will go via Steeple Street, Hurdsfield Road, Queens Avenue and Nicholson Avenue.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. The work was due to start on August 18 and could take less than three months. However the order will be in force for up to 18 months. ●● BROKEN Cross Club is to host an evening of music this Saturday.

Julieanna will take the audience back to the First World War in the first of a four-part show.

This will be followed by songs form the 40s and then a selection of tunes from the West End. The show will finish with some popular dance hits.

Doors open at 8pm.
