●● A NEW monthly club for the over-60s has been launched.

The Oaks Club will bring older peo­ple to­gether for fun and friend­ship.

It launched on Septem­ber 26 with a game of in­door bowls. Fu­ture meet­ings will be on Oc­to­ber 24 where you can see clas­sic films and Novem­ber 28 where speaker Bar­bara Mil­ner will give a pre­sen­ta­tion on the Sam­buru Women’s W Em­power- ent Project. The free club runs at the Silk­life Cen­tre on George Street from 1-3pm. If you would like to know more call 07875 213708. ●● A WILDLIFE club has moved home.

Mac­cles­field RSPB Wildlife Ex­plor­ers, the ju­nior sec­tion of The Royal So­ci­ety for the Pro­tec­tion of Birds in East Cheshire, is now based at the Sal­va­tion Army Hall on Roe Street.

In­door meet­ings are now once a month on a Mon­day evening. Chil­dren aged six to nine at­tend from 6-7pm, while over nines at­tend from 7.15pm to 8.30pm.

Group Leader Tina Hanak said: “We have a won­der­ful se­lec­tion of meet­ings planned for this year, in­clud­ing a Pere­grine Watch, a Na­ture Trea­sure Hunt and Tree Dress­ing – plus na­ture top­ics from cam­ou­flage to stream­lin­ing in fish.”
