●● A NEW monthly club for the over-60s has been launched.

The Oaks Club will bring older people together for fun and friendship.

It launched on September 26 with a game of indoor bowls. Future meetings will be on October 24 where you can see classic films and November 28 where speaker Barbara Milner will give a presentati­on on the Samburu Women’s W Empower- ent Project. The free club runs at the Silklife Centre on George Street from 1-3pm. If you would like to know more call 07875 213708. ●● A WILDLIFE club has moved home.

Macclesfie­ld RSPB Wildlife Explorers, the junior section of The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds in East Cheshire, is now based at the Salvation Army Hall on Roe Street.

Indoor meetings are now once a month on a Monday evening. Children aged six to nine attend from 6-7pm, while over nines attend from 7.15pm to 8.30pm.

Group Leader Tina Hanak said: “We have a wonderful selection of meetings planned for this year, including a Peregrine Watch, a Nature Treasure Hunt and Tree Dressing – plus nature topics from camouflage to streamlini­ng in fish.”
