Soldiers honoured at war event

SUTTON Ex Servicemen’s Club is hosting an event as part of the First World War commemorations.

The event, at the club on Hollin Lane, is an evening of words and music to mark 100 years since the start of the war.

It will feature some original writing by John Clark on the lives of three soldiers from the parish of Sutton who fought and died in the war. It starts at 8pm. Entry costs £1, with any further donations being given to charity Help for Heroes, which helps injured soldiers and their families.
