Culture exchange at art talk event
PRESTBURY’S Art appreciation society has announced two talks all about art from around the world.
The first talk, on Monday, October 27, is entitled ‘From Damascus to Cordoba’, and will examine how culture has been exchanged between the eastern part of the world and the west, focusing on the beginnings of an Islamic aesthetic and its spread from the Atlantic to Central Asia. It will be presented by Christine Musgrove, lecturer and art historian. On Monday, November 24, a ‘Glory of Rembrandt’ lecture presented by Nirvana Romell will study the innovations he introduced in his paintings and printmaking.
Both lectures will take place from 10am to 12noon at Prestbury Village Hall, Macclesfield Road, Prestbury, and are free to PAAS members and £8 for non-members.
