Double ace day at Macc
PRESIDENT’S Day at Macclesfield Golf Club is one of the season’s highlights and president David Hopewell saw a full field enjoy a great day with a string of fine scores.
The main prize was won by Paul Eifflaender with his nett 66 seeing him home by a shot from Mark Brierley who won a cpo from Michael Oakes.
Chris Massey had the best gross of 72.
But it was also a day when lightning struck twice on the par-three fifth, with holes-in-one
The Macc ladies Foursomes was won by lady captain Kay Atkin and Joyce Riley after a great final with Sue Orwin and Judy Mutter.
Current leaders in the Kordian Cup for Macc ladies are Julia Dunne (151) from Georgina Whalley and Marlene Connor (both 144).
A midweek Stableford at Mottram Hall was taken by Sam Lynch with 38 points.
The Brian Commins Trophy at Davenport was won by Jim Dunn’s team with 48 points, four more than Peter Edmondson’s team.
