Volunteers get fit for charity
STAFF, family and friends at a nursery have raised nearly £2,000 for charity.
The money has been collected by volunteers at Tytherington’s Kidsunlimted nursery who together are supporting the stillbirth support charity 4Louis.
They took part in a two-hour high energy work out at Macclesfield Leisure Centre in return for sponsorship money.
Lorraine Roberts, nursery manager, said: “Staff and parents and family members got together and did a two hour charity dance, we did one hour of the Lezmills Body Jam and one hour of Zumba with two instructors who donated their time.
“We wanted to do something lively and upbeat to raise money, and something that everyone could do. It was exhausting, but it was nice to be able to smile.”
The group also organised a raffle with prizes including a back massage from Fab lounge, guest passes to Tytherington club and a round of golf for four people at Macclesfield golf club.
The fundraiser was prompted in memory staff member Ali Parry’s daughter, Erin Isobelle, who was stillborn.
They raised a fantastic £560 through the event, which has been added to the £1,365 they have already raised. The money will be used to buy memory boxes for families whose babies don’t survive, and are filled with memories of their first days.
Lorraine added: “We’d like to say thank you to all the businesses that donated raffle prizes.
“The money will be used to buy memory boxes for families at St Mary’s hospital which will be donated in loving memory of Erin.”
