Queens win as they come from behind

QUEENS A earned a hard-fought 4-3 victory when they hosted Lord Byron in the Macclesfie­ld Mens 501 Darts League.

The visitors took an early 2-0 lead, with Matt McAllister hitting a 16-dart leg.

Queens made it 2-1 when captain Glen Valentine defeated Steve Kimpton, while Scott Newton edged Neil Podmore to make it 3-1.

Up against it, Queens staged a comeback with Andy Jackson defeating Byron’s Daz Jackson before the last singles match was levelled at 3-3 courtesy of Bryan Jones’ victory over Neil Whitmore.

Queens then nicked it in the doubles with Kirk Ten-Pierick and Glen Valentine coming out out on top.

Nags A recorded a convincing 7-0 victory over Nags B to move three behind Spinners in fourth spot.

Martin Perry defeated Andy Bowman, while Lee Banks’ win over Adam Forrest brought the scoring to 2-0.

Roy Barber made it three with a win against Allen Leigh, before captain Gav Finlow defeated opposing skipper Marcus Dennerley with a 2-0 banker.

With everything else being icing on the cake for the A’s, Steve Holland continued the rout with another 2-0 win to ensure they finished the tie off without dropping a single leg.

Queens B ran out 5-2 winners at Flowerpot with Andy McKeith defeating Kev Whitmore 2-0 in the opener.

The visitors made it 2-0 when Craig Lyons beat Geoff Wood, while former Macc individual champion Dave Higginboth­am found his form with a stunning 15-dart leg and another 2-0.

Pete Birkinshaw saw off Rob Lockett to take the spoils with an 18-dart leg before Mike Hunter increased their lead to 5–0, before the hosts salvaged two late points.

Spinners earned a vital 5-2 victory at Bruce B.

With a tense contest poised at 2-2, Spinners saw the tie out with Ian Wadsworth and Bob Tankard wrestling the doubles from Derek Turner and Trevor Goodey courtesy of a clean 2-0 performanc­e.

Champions Broken Cross earned a 5-2 victory at Sporting B while Railway View recorded a 4-3 victory over Bruce A.
