“We’ve allocated Wrexham 900 tickets, they’re confident that they’ll have a big away following and we want to combat that with a strong home support.

“We’re unbeaten at the Moss Rose and it would be really good to have a big crowd who can create a great atmosphere for an evening fixture under the floodlights and really get behind the team.

“There were 1,439 in the Moss Rose on Saturday which was excellent and the club needs that level of support. We’d love to go on another cup run. As well as the prestige of facing some of the teams we could go up against it’s so important, given the finances at the club.”

And Askey himself, who led his team to a replay against Wednesday at Hillsborough last season, is determined to keep up a fantastic home record in what promises to be a great occasion.

“It’s always nice to go into the cup having won,” he said after the victory at home to Dover that lifted Macc to seventh. “It takes the pressure off us and we can relax, I’m pleased with where we are. It’s a nice position to be in and we have to keep it going.

“It’s nice to keep winning, especially here as we don’t want to lose our unbeaten record here so it’s important from that point of view.

“I thought we were unlucky not to win at Wrexham but they carry a threat, they’ll have Andy Bishop, Connor Jennings and Wes Yorke, they’ve got a lot of firepower.

“But we’re looking forward to it, it can be a better atmosphere for a night game and the ball often runs a bit quicker, which could suit us.”
