Bubbling up to a great event

-

WORK yourself into a lather and enjoy some good clean fun at Bubble Rush 2015.

This newest fundraising event offers the excitement of going through 5ft high walls of foam in the name of charity.

The venue is Oulton Park in Cheshire, home to the roar of racing cars normally, but giving way on this occasion to the roar of laughter.

Bubble Rush takes place on Saturday, May 16, from 3pm and has been jointly organised by East Cheshire Hospice and St Luke’s Hospice.

Participants can either run or walk round the 5km circuit – facing the frothy challenge en route.

Bubble walks are an American craze and have now been brought to Cheshire by the two charities.

Early bird entry of £20 is available until February 14 with the fee refunded for those who raise at least £100.

Entrants aged 10 and under pay £10.

Students from Macclesfield College, who have adopted East Cheshire Hospice as their charity of the year, are already signing up.

Amy Magee, the charity’s fundraising manager, said: “Everyone can take part – there’s no age limit and the route is child friendly.

“A special course will be laid out at Oulton Park with a water slide at the finish which is optional for entrants.

“The Bubble Rush is great fun and this is the first time it’s been held in this country.

“There’s live entertainment on the day and all money raised will go directly to providing hospice care across Cheshire.”

To enter go to www. eastcheshirehospice.org. uk/BubbleRush. ●● EAST Cheshire Hospice is holding a special furniture sale at its warehouse in Macclesfield town centre on Saturday, January 31, and Sunday, February 1.

The charity needs to sell its stock to make room for new donations which are arriving each day.

The warehouse is on Bond Street opposite Shaw Street.

The hospice has received an unprecedented level of furniture over the last few weeks and retail staff and volunteers are keen to turn it into cash donations to help pay for urgently needed care.

Retail manager Mick Prescott said: “We usually store donations at our warehouse for a short time before they go into our busy furniture shop on Thornton Square, but recently we’ve been overwhelmed with donations.

“With high levels of inpatients at the hospice this winter, we must sell as much of the stock as we can to provide the extra nursing care needed.”

Furniture can be reserved with full payment and home delivery can be arranged.
