●● A PERFORMANCE group is staging a production of hit songs.

The Showstoppers show features famous songs from Frozen, Hairspray, Annie, The Wizard of Oz, Whistle Down the Wind, Billy Elliot and Into The Woods.

It is being staged by Cheshire Youth Group for New and Emerging Talent on Stage, known as CYGNETS.

Auditions will be at St Michael’s Church, Macclesfield, on February 2 and 3 for people eight to 21 who would like to take part in the show.

Kalini Kent, who runs CYGNETS, said: “This is an exciting opportunity to join this young and vibrant group and the reason for choosing a Showstoppers-type of production is to give as many opportunities as possible to every cast member in singing, dancing and acting.

The group is also planning to perform a version of the hit musical Matilda.

The special abridged version of Roald Dahl’s book features songs and lyrics by Tim Minchin and a script by Dennis Kelly.
