Aspiring singers invited to shine at society’s fun day

-

A CHORAL society is urging the village’s reluctant singers to swap singing in the shower for performing on the stage.

Prestbury Choral Society is hosting a singing day on Saturday, February 14.

It’s an opportunity for anyone who has an interest in joining a choir, regardless of experience.

Cynthia Crewe, from the choir, said: “It’s time to stretch those vocal chords and get singing – and if you don’t belong to a choir already, this may encourage you to join one.

“Choral singing lifts your spirits, exercises your heart and lungs and improves posture – and is a good way of making new friends and having fun.

“For our singing day this year our musical director, Simon Mercer, will lead us in exploring the choruses from Mendelssohn’s great masterpiece, Elijah, and may even dip into some of the arias.

“This promises to be an exhilarating day and a lot of fun. We expect it to be very popular and numbers are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.”

This year the event will be held at a new location in Wilmslow and will take place at the United Reformed Church on Chapel Lane.

Singers are invited to register and enjoy a coffee from 9.30am, with the first session of the day beginning at 10.15am.

The day will end with an informal performance for family and friends at 4.45pm with a finishing time of 5.30pm.

Don’t forget to bring a packed lunch. Go to www. prestburychoral.org for a registration form.
