Poynton put out the Fire

-

IN the East Cheshire Division One Cup Poynton FC were 2-1 winners in their match at North West Fire.

Josh Stafford and Matt Tattler grabbed the goals in their 2-1 win.

But in the Cheshire Sunday Cup Poynton Workmen’s Club were on the wrong end of a 4-0 result in their clash at Woodchurch United.

In the Division Two Cup Stuart Ainsworth hit the only goal of Dolphin’s game at High Lane to give them the victory.

The Division Three Cup produced a derby that saw Richmond Rovers defeated by visitors Lord Byron 2-1.

And there was extra- time disappointment for Tytherington Juniors as they hosted Cheadle & Gatley Athletic.

After a 90-minute stalemate the visitors grabbed the only goal of the tie in the added-on period to progress.

Victory of the day goes to Broken Cross Athletic, who put seven past Stockport Vikings Warriors without reply.

Broken Cross now sit third in the Division Four table, just a point behind leaders AFC Duke.

Leek League leaders Golden Lion tasted defeat in the Subsidiary Cup.

Lion still top the table but suffered a surprise 4-3 loss at Waterhouses.
