Drink driver was caught af­ter break up

AWOMAN was caught drink driv­ing af­ter break­ing up with her lover, a court heard.

Lucy Anne Kathryn Os­borne, of Brock­le­hurst Av­enue, Macclesfield, had planned to stay the night at her part­ner’s home in Wilm­slow, mag­is­trates were told.

But when she ended the re­la­tion­ship she got be­hind the wheel and drove home.

Os­borne, 41, was caught by po­lice on Queen’s Av­enue, less than a mile from her home, at 11pm on Jan­uary 8, af­ter a tip-off from a mem­ber of the public.

When she was breathal­ysed, Os­borne was found to be one-and-a-half times over the drink drive limit, record­ing 58 mi­cro­grammes of al­co­hol in 100 millil­itres of breath. The legal limit is 35mg.

Os­borne, who works as a cloth­ing re­tail manager, told the ar­rest­ing of­fi­cer that she had drunk half a bot­tle of wine, the hear­ing was told.

Os­borne, ad­mit­ted drink driv­ing at Mac­cles- field mag­is­trates’ court on Fe­bru­ary 5.

She was fined £390 and banned from driv­ing for a year.

Deb­bie Byrne, pros­e­cut­ing, said: “At 11pm on Jan­uary 8 a mem­ber of the public con­tacted po­lice about an al­leged drink driver.

“PC Basarat was on Hul­ley Road and saw the car as it turned onto Queen’s Av­enue.

“The car was stopped and the de­fen­dant ad­mit­ted drink­ing half a bot­tle of wine.”

De­fend­ing, Charles Stans­field, said: “The de­fen­dant is in clothes re­tail man­age­ment. She is now hop­ing to hang onto her job.

“On the night in ques­tion she went to her part­ner’s for the evening with the in­ten­tion of stay­ing the night.

“She had planned to bring the re­la­tion­ship to a civilised end.

“Things went wrong and she felt she had to leave. She was stopped close to home hav­ing driven from Wilm­slow.”
