Drink driver was caught after break up

AWOMAN was caught drink driving after breaking up with her lover, a court heard.

Lucy Anne Kathryn Osborne, of Brocklehur­st Avenue, Macclesfie­ld, had planned to stay the night at her partner’s home in Wilmslow, magistrate­s were told.

But when she ended the relationsh­ip she got behind the wheel and drove home.

Osborne, 41, was caught by police on Queen’s Avenue, less than a mile from her home, at 11pm on January 8, after a tip-off from a member of the public.

When she was breathalys­ed, Osborne was found to be one-and-a-half times over the drink drive limit, recording 58 microgramm­es of alcohol in 100 millilitre­s of breath. The legal limit is 35mg.

Osborne, who works as a clothing retail manager, told the arresting officer that she had drunk half a bottle of wine, the hearing was told.

Osborne, admitted drink driving at Maccles- field magistrate­s’ court on February 5.

She was fined £390 and banned from driving for a year.

Debbie Byrne, prosecutin­g, said: “At 11pm on January 8 a member of the public contacted police about an alleged drink driver.

“PC Basarat was on Hulley Road and saw the car as it turned onto Queen’s Avenue.

“The car was stopped and the defendant admitted drinking half a bottle of wine.”

Defending, Charles Stansfield, said: “The defendant is in clothes retail management. She is now hoping to hang onto her job.

“On the night in question she went to her partner’s for the evening with the intention of staying the night.

“She had planned to bring the relationsh­ip to a civilised end.

“Things went wrong and she felt she had to leave. She was stopped close to home having driven from Wilmslow.”
