Cricket club proves a hit with ju­nior play­ers

Name: Matt Stevens. What team / sports club are you in­volved with? Lan­g­ley Cricket Club. Po­si­tion: Ju­nior head coach and grants of­fi­cer. How many mem­bers do you have? 40 adults and 35 ju­niors. What do you en­joy the most about your po­si­tion there? Be­ing a part of our newly-formed ju­nior sec­tion and mak­ing a pos­i­tive dif­fer­ence to chil­dren’s lives in the lo­cal com­mu­nity.

Also be­ing able to help the club achieve the aims and ob­jec­tives in line with our five-year devel­op­ment plan. Where and when do you meet? Ju­nior in­door train­ing is ev­ery Sun­day at All Hal­lows Sports Hall – un­der-9s from 2pm to 3pm and un­der11s/13s from 3pm to 4pm.

Se­nior in­door train­ing is ev­ery Mon­day at Macc Academy Sports Hall from 8pm to 9.30pm.

Out­door train­ing will start in mid-April for adults and ju­niors – dates to be con­firmed. What is the best thing about Macclesfield? The peo­ple. What is the worst thing about Macclesfield? The traf­fic. What is the most mem­o­rable sport­sre­lated thing to have hap­pened to you? Win­ning the league and cup dou­ble as Lan­g­ley first team cap­tain in 2011. What was your great­est sport­ing achieve­ment? Fac­ing Shane Warne for six balls and hit­ting one. Any other in­for­ma­tion? As a 100 per cent vol­un­teer com­mu­nity-led or­gan­i­sa­tion we are al­ways striv­ing to cre­ate new part­ner­ships with lo­cal busi­nesses and in­di­vid­u­als and we will en­deav­our to help our part­ners out in as many ways as pos­si­ble to help max­imise any in­vest­ment they make in us.

We also have some ma­jor am­bi­tious plans for the club and ground and th­ese in­clude: ●● Re­fur­bish­ing the club­house, in­clud­ing: ● light­ing ● plas­ter­ing ● floor­ing ● in­ter­nal doors ● stor­age ● an ex­ten­sion to in­clude a kitchen, and se­cure stores for ju­nior equip­ment and ma­chin­ery equip­ment

● loft in­su­la­tion and board­ing ●● Im­prov­ing our ground fa­cil­i­ties, in­clud­ing:

● re­plac­ing the orig­i­nal en­trance for gen­eral com­mu­nity ac­cess ● a club sign ● car park ren­o­va­tions ● stor­age so­lu­tions ●● ar­ti­fi­cial prac­tice area Spon­sor­ship Per­haps you could of­fer your prod­ucts or ser­vices to help with one of our projects in ex­change for a spon­sor­ship agree­ment.

We are also look­ing for spon­sors of our ju­nior sec­tion. You could spon­sor the ju­niors’ shirts or match balls.

We are open and flex­i­ble to dis­cuss any pro­posal to help max­imise the spon­sor’s re­quire­ments.

We run three adult teams play­ing on a Satur­day and Sun­day, two friendly teams play­ing Sun­day and in T20 games in mid­week and have three newly formed ju­nior teams at un­der nine, 11 and 13 age groups.
