Top marks for ‘happy school’
A PRIMARY school is celebrating after getting a glowing report by the education watchdog.
St Alban’s Catholic Primary School was rated outstanding by Ofsted for overall effectiveness, the achievement of pupils, the quality of teaching, the behaviour and safety of pupils, as well as in its leadership and management.
Headteacher Teresa Cooke said: “St Alban’s is such a happy school and the inspection team were quick to pick up on the children’s excellent behaviour as well as their kindness and thoughtfulness towards each other.
“The pupils were keen to tell the inspectors how much they ‘loved learning’.
“The inspectors noted the strong Christian ethos of the school stating that ‘the pupil’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is outstanding in this harmonious school’.
“That’s a pretty impressive recommendation.”
Anne-Marie Connor, chair of governors said: “We are delighted that Ofsted have recognised the school as “outstanding” in all areas. Our inspirational headteacher has built a very strong team who, through their hard work, commitment and enthusiasm have made this school such a special place.
“Since the new framework was introduced it has become more difficult to get an ‘outstanding’ judgement which makes their achievement all the more impressive.
“We are indebted to the whole school team from pupils, staff, parents, teachers and governors for their support.”
Ofsted said the school was ‘making outstanding progress across all year groups and all subjects’.
