Pupils are height of fashion
FA S H I O N- F O RWARD teenagers took to the runway under the wings of a Concorde to raise thousands of pounds for charity.
Students from King’s, Fallibroome and Tytherington School have each been raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT).
They joined forces with Margot Cornish to put on self-choreographed catwalk shows in ‘Runway on the Runway’ at Manchester Airport’s Concorde Visitor Centre, wearing outfits supplied by department stores and designers.
King’s students took part in two catwalk shows, modelling BCBG Mazazria courtesy of Harvey Nichols and Kurt Geiger’s latest shoe collection.
The school also scooped an award for raising a whopping £4,654 though bag packing, bucket collections, and clothes recycling events.
Fallibroome fashionistas modelled bespoke designs by Nicola Metcalfe and were elated to take home Boss Managements ‘Best Runway’ award on the night.
Tytherington students rocked the catwalk in dresses from the SS15 Little Mistress Collection, their major fundraising venture was a danceathon, which helped them reach their total of over £3,400.
Margot Cornish, who organised Runway on the Runway, praised the fundraisers for their hard work and commitment in raising money.
She said: “For every second, hour, minute and day it took to produce Runway on the Runway, it was all worth it for the one minute it took to walk down the Concorde Catwalk with the TCT crew. More than 500 young people are diagnosed with cancer each year here in the North West and despite this awareness remains the lowest in the UK.
“Runway on the Runway aims to change this statistic.”
