Rugby team win tournament
A RUGBY team has won a tournament without conceding a try.
Poynton High School’s year seven team were victors in the RFU Emerging Schools Festival.
The boys played against four other schools and won each game, which meant they qualified for the first-place final.
Poynton beat Woodchurch in the first game by two tries to nil, with the tries coming from Rory Kinrade and Sid Williamson.
In the second group game, Poynton beat Holmes Chapel with the five tries coming from Rory Kinrade (2), Sid Williamson (2) and Alex Martin.
They then beat Leftwich 3-0 in the third group game with Sid Williamson scoring two tries and Rory Kinrade scoring the other.
Going into the final group game, Poynton knew a win against All Hallows would guarantee a place in the first-place final.

Poynton then faced second-placed Woodchurch in the final which they won 3-0.
