Dishwasher delight at community centre
THE TEAM at a community centre were delighted when a business donated a dishwasher to help it provide its services.
Volunteers at the Bridgend Centre are carrying out changes at the premises to help meet demand, including refurbishing the kitchen.
They thought a dishwasher would really help volunteers who were spending time washing dishes when running events and activities at the centre.
They put in a call to All your Appliances on Churchill Way, Macclesfield, to see if the firm was able to donate a dishwasher to the charity, and were pleased when they agreed.
Rebecca Lea, manager of the Bridgend Centre, said: “The manager Chris Wyatt did not hesitate in agreeing and within 24 hours it was ready for collection and even came with a 12 month warranty.
“We’ve been washing the many cups and plates by hand and with growing demand it was becoming quite a chore. The staff, volunteers and those visiting the centre cannot thank Chris enough for his kindness.”
The Bridgend Centre on Palmerston Street in Bollington was established in 1990. It serves the community by running a charity shop, tea room, talks and walks, as well as activities such as chess groups, reading groups, yoga and Spanish.
Rebecca said: “Since the centre started, it has grown from strength to strength, widening its appeal to local people as the first point of contact for community matters.
“It is a community co-operative, where everyone works together for the greater benefit of all.The Bridgend Centre is hoping to renovate the whole kitchen.
“This is an ongoing project so we’d like to hear from anyone who wants to make a donation.”
