Trio’s big impression

- TOM HORSFIELD

BOLLINGTON continued where they left off last season with a comprehensive victory of Northwich at the recreation ground.

They welcomed three new additions to the club and all made telling contributions.

Bollington won the toss and skipper Rick Hough elected to bowl first. The new ball was given to new signings Muhammad Jahangir and South African overseas Sabir Mallie, both of whom tormented a nervy Northwich side who struggled to 132-9 off their 50 overs.

Mallie took 5-59 off 19 overs, being superbly backed up by Jahangir with figures of 1-11 off 12 overs.

Fellow new signing Alex Durie took crucial middle order wickets with final figures of 2-25 along with Stuart Plant’s contribution of 1-31.

The only meaningful contribution from the Northwich batsmen came from Sam Shepard with a knock of 55.

A confident batting display saw Bollington reach the required total with relative ease, taking 31 overs with the loss of just two wickets.

Captain Rick Hough anchored the run chase with a solid 25 before losing his wicket.

However, man of the match Mallie stole the show with 91 not out, losing several balls along the way.

Bollington took the full 25 points and look to continue their good start to the season against Congleton this coming weekend.
