Decision day as voters go to the polls
VOTERS will hit polling stations around the town for a busy election day.
Residents are being asked to cast their votes for at least two – in some cases three, elections on polling day tomorrow (Thursday).
Electors must pick a new Macclesfield MP, borough councillors for Cheshire East council and town and parish councillors.
It’s also the day the first Macclesfield Town Council will be decided.
In the Cheshire East elections, 78 candidates are standing for 23 seats in 15 wards across Macclesfield.
Town councils with seats up for grabs include Bollington and Poynton, with the parishes of Disley and Kettleshulme also appointing new representatives.
The count for Macclesfield MP is at Macclesfield Leisure Centre, from 2am with results expected about 7am.
The Cheshire East count begins at 3pm on Friday and should be declared about 7pm.
Voters must go to their designated polling station, which is listed on the poll cards sent out to homes.
Polling stations are open from 7am to 10pm.
