●● RAIL bosses are in­tro­duc­ing park­ing charges at Poyn­ton train sta­tion.

North­ern Rail will begin charg­ing £2 for all-day park­ing from Mon­day, May 18.

Rail users will also be able to pur­chase daily, multi-day and weekly car park tick­ets from the Pay & Dis­play ma­chines and RingGo.

The com­pany is also work­ing on an op­tion for rail users to pur­chase monthly, quar­terly and an­nual park­ing tick­ets, via the North­ern Rail web­site.

Rail bosses said the car park­ing charges will help North­ern Rail de­velop a sus­tain­able rev­enue in­come so it is not de­pen­dent upon na­tional or lo­cal sub­sidy. ●● BLUES rock band Vir­gil and the Ac­cel­er­a­tors are play­ing at Poyn­ton Le­gion Club on Thurs­day, May 21.

The group, who are famed for their live shows, swing by Poyn­ton as part of their 20-date UK tour.

The band boast two al­bums ‘The Ra­dium’ and ‘Army Of Three’.

The gig is on Ge­orge’s Road West from 8pm.
