●● RAIL bosses are introducin­g parking charges at Poynton train station.

Northern Rail will begin charging £2 for all-day parking from Monday, May 18.

Rail users will also be able to purchase daily, multi-day and weekly car park tickets from the Pay & Display machines and RingGo.

The company is also working on an option for rail users to purchase monthly, quarterly and annual parking tickets, via the Northern Rail website.

Rail bosses said the car parking charges will help Northern Rail develop a sustainabl­e revenue income so it is not dependent upon national or local subsidy. ●● BLUES rock band Virgil and the Accelerato­rs are playing at Poynton Legion Club on Thursday, May 21.

The group, who are famed for their live shows, swing by Poynton as part of their 20-date UK tour.

The band boast two albums ‘The Radium’ and ‘Army Of Three’.

The gig is on George’s Road West from 8pm.
