CHOIR EVENT

MACCLESFIELD Oriana Choir will finish its 85th season with a light-hearted concert of old favourites.

It will be conducted by Keith Yearsley MBE, who has led the choir for more than 50 years, beginning when he was just 25.

Keith, who is from Macclesfield and plays the organ at Gawsworth Church, said the concert will have plenty for everyone.

He said: “It’s a light hearted concert with a little bit of opera, a little bit of Gilbert and Sullivan, some humour and lots and lots of strawberries and cream!

“We also have some wonderful contributions from talented members of the choir – Janet Fox, Wendy Davenport, Steve Thorp, Paul Shortt, Roger Hordley – folk singer Alan Grace and Laura Simpson, a flautist.

“It will have something for everyone.”

Andy Donaldson will be providing the accompaniment.

The performance will take place in the Macclesfield Methodist Church on Saturday, June 13, starting at 7.30pm.
