WE were saddened recently to hear of the death of one of our volunteers who has been instrumental in the success of our community project.

Jane Leah, who had been involved with us since our conception in 2003, sadly passed away on Sunday, May 31 after a short illness.

Jane was the mum of Simon Leah who carries out all the technical work that goes on behind the scenes and attends many local events, providing the PA systems at the events. If you have been to any of the events that Simon has covered you will also have seen Jane supporting him.

She made an excellent cup of tea for us all from the back of Simon’s van.

Jane was also very creative and made cuddly toys which she donated to us to help raise funds for our project. She will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Jane’s funeral will take place on Friday, June 12 at 10am at Macclesfield Crematorium and Simon would like anyone who knew Jane to attend the service and pay their respects.

Simon would also like to express his sincere gratitude to staff from the Macmillan nurses and East Cheshire Hospice for the great care and compassion they showed to both his mum and him during her illness.

Simon has requested no flowers at the service but would appreciate any donations, which will be made to both the Macmillan nurses and East Cheshire Hospice.
