●● NEW coun­cil­lor for Tyther­ing­ton Sam Gard­ner has said he is ‘thrilled’ and ‘re­lieved’ to have been elected to rep­re­sent the ward.

Coun Gard­ner, who lives in Sid­ding­ton with his wife, Char­lotte and 18-week-old daugh­ter, Matilda, went to school in Tyther­ing­ton un­til the age of 13.

His hob­bies in­clude watch­ing cricket, play­ing hockey and read­ing.

Demon­strat­ing his tenac­ity, he said: “I knocked on ev­ery door in Tyther­ing­ton over a year and a half.”

He added: “My num­ber one fo­cus for the next four years is to sup­port Tyther­ing­ton’s ex­cel­lent schools, and in par­tic­u­lar help with pupil safety by cam­paign­ing in the coun­cil for 20mph speed lim­its on all roads past schools in the ward.”

The 34-year-old cites the birth of Matilda, his first child, as his proud­est mo­ment. ●● THERE will be a baby and chil­dren’s mar­ket at The Tyther­ing­ton Club on Satur­day, June 20.

The nearly new sale shop will sell a whole range of chil­drens toys, clothes and equip­ment at bar­gain prices, per­fect to kit out the new ad­di­tions to the fam­ily.

The event will run from 10am un­til mid­day.

En­try costs £1 each and chil­dren go free.

The sale will be held at Tyther­ing­ton Club Bun­ga­low, on Dorch­ester Way, Macclesfield, SK10 2JP.
