Net­ball club cel­e­brates 40th

POYN­TON Net­ball club has cel­e­brated its 40th birth­day.

The club was set up in 1975 by a mother and daugh­ter and has grown over the years, now con­sist­ing of 36 mem­bers in­clud­ing other moth­ers and daugh­ters who play to­gether.

The ladies cel­e­brated in style with a din­ner dance at the Dean­wa­ter Ho­tel with past and present mem­bers at­tend­ing.

Michelle Need­ham, club chair­man, said: “The club is just a re­ally fun way of keep­ing fit and be­ing so­cial.

“We all had a great time cel­e­brat­ing at the Dean­wa­ter Ho­tel.”

With four teams play­ing in the Manch­ester League, the club is al­ways look­ing for new ex­pe­ri­enced play­ers.

Mem­bers range from 16 – the min­i­mum age al­lowed – to 62, with He­len Clap­cott lay­ing claim to the ti­tle of most se­nior mem­ber.
