Netball club celebrates 40th

POYNTON Netball club has celebrated its 40th birthday.

The club was set up in 1975 by a mother and daughter and has grown over the years, now consisting of 36 members including other mothers and daughters who play together.

The ladies celebrated in style with a dinner dance at the Deanwater Hotel with past and present members attending.

Michelle Needham, club chairman, said: “The club is just a really fun way of keeping fit and being social.

“We all had a great time celebrating at the Deanwater Hotel.”

With four teams playing in the Manchester League, the club is always looking for new experienced players.

Members range from 16 – the minimum age allowed – to 62, with Helen Clapcott laying claim to the title of most senior member.
