Macc target has to be promotion

- FOOTBALL SHELDAN KEAY

NEW Macclesfield Town defender Curtis Haynes-Brown insists the team should be aiming for promotion this season.

The 26-year-old joined the Silkmen earlier this month after a successful two-year spell with Lowestoft Town.

He has already spent some time training with the Macclesfield squad in the past, and he now wants to make his impact by helping guide the team back into the Football League.

“Hopefully we can make everything happen during this campaign. There is no point in playing football if the aim isn’t to get promoted each season,” he said.

“I kept my eye on the team a lot throughout last season to see how they were doing, and I ended up just as gutted as the lads that were here after missing out on promotion.

“I’ve wanted to be here for a couple of years now from when I used to come training here. I’ve never been able to sign due to personal reasons but I’m happy to be here now.

“When I did come training here the regime that John Askey and Efe Sodje had in place was one that I wanted to be under so from then on I’ve been trying to make it happen.”
