- BOXING

MACCLESFIELD Boys Boxing Club made their annual pilgrimage to Blackpool where Blackpool Kingscote ABC facilitated the club’s junior, youth, and schools’ boxers for a morning of sparring.

It is something the club does every year and has done so since the club opened.

The youngsters enjoyed two rounds of sparring, each took part in some pad work with Anthony Moran – the head coach – who also tested the running abilities on their time track.

It was a great morning session and the youngsters loved it and as a reward for their hard work that morning and throughout the last season, they were taken to the Sandlecastle Water Park on the sea front.

A clubs spokesman said: “The kids loved it, taking advantage of all the rides and other facilities that were available to them.

“This is what they come for and what they deserve for all their achievements in the last boxing calendar and a fitting end to the season.

“All the kids were well behaved and after good three hours in the park it was time for a quick change across the road for fish and chips to eat on the sea front.

“All the kids enjoyed stuffing their face with no more watching weight to make the scales.

“After a quick run on the beach and a look round the pier it was time to head home and draw a close to another fantastic day.

“Thanks to Jones coaches as they have always made a minibus available for us every year at minimum cost to the gym which we deeply appreciated.

“Thanks to all the coaches that turned up to supervise the team.”
