Derby win shows way forward for Kerridge

KERRIDGE hosted local rivals Pott Shrigley at Clark Lane on a beautiful summer’s afternoon, where upon winning the toss Kerridge captain Luke Wild opted to bat first. It was the visitors who took the early initiative with a great caught and bowled dismissal by I Tomenson to remove Harbige (2) and when Hennon bowled McKeith(0) in the next over Kerridge were reeling at11/2.

Regan and Capper pushed the score to 56 before Lodge went aerial to take a great diving catch to see the back of Regan for 29.

A 102 run partnershi­p for the fourth wicket took the the score to 158 before I Tomenson again with another caught and bowled brought Josh Capper’s knock to an end after scoring a brilliant 65. Gaz Davies went next over after looking in good nick for his 41 bowled by Lodge.

With Luke Wild firing a quick fire 34 , Ryder (15) and Grayston (19*) Kerridge saw out their 45 overs to finish on 261/9. T Hennon (3/74) and S Lodge(3/54) the pick for Pott.

In the evening sun Pott, opening up with Hart and Parker, had got to 22 before captain Hart was bowled for six by Neil Banks. J Parker (29, bowled by Banks, was next to go on 39/2.

Davies (2/28) had Paul (0) caught behind and with Banks finding the timbers again, Pott were wobbling on 41/4. Alex Grimes had A Tomenson stumped by Wild for 26 at 72/6. With some resistance coming from the tail, J Lisle (26) and I Tomenson (20) took the score into three figures with Pott eventually being dismissed in the 27th over for 115.

Neil Banks finished with figures of 6/51 to claim full points for the home side.

At the halfway point of the season, with four wins, four losses and a draw, Kerridge will look to continue the recent success with another home fixture on Saturday when Wistaston travel to Clark Lane
