Cheshire East became a UKIP free zone and Macclesfield now has no Liberal Democrats unless of course you count the ones that are now Conservative councillors. Isn’t democracy brilliant?
It will be a busy few years as we attempt to keep the local Conservatives from allowing the destruction of our green land.
We have also got to ensure that the new Macclesfield Town Council takes the lead on the regeneration of the town centre and not allow a small, vocal, unelected group run roughshod over public opinion.
Our councillors will continue to campaign to protect care services in Macclesfield even after post election closures to care facilities have already been announced.
Nationally, Labour has to oppose the reintroduction of fox hunting and oppose the abolition of the Human Rights Act.
But the greatest battle will be saving our country from the anti-Europeans who seek to destroy the economic and social gains that EU membership affords us.
Cameron knows this, business knows it and so do the newspaper barons.
I welcome a referendum that will finally put to bed the great Conservative myth of their euro scepticism.
