Visitors lap up tennis taster
TENNIS enthusiasts enjoyed a free Wimbledon themed day at Prestbury Tennis Club.
The day took place as part of a Great British Tennis Weekend scheme organised by the Lawn Tennis Association.
Visitors were put through their paces with cardio tennis lessons from head coach Jon Cain, while on the mini tennis court coach Judy Grant had more than 20 little ones trying out their skills.
Coach Dave Hewland also gave budding young Murrays the benefit of his expertise.
Vice chairman Sian Reading said: “We had the most incredible turnout with more than 75 people, juniors and adults.
“At one point a stream of people brandishing tennis rackets was arriving down our drive and I thought we were about to be taken over!”
She added: “It was a hot and sunny afternoon, with so much activity on all the courts. There was the most amazing buzz around the place.”
Cream teas and Pimms were also available, providing participants with another traditional taste of the famous tournament.
Sian said: “Everyone really enjoyed themselves and we had so much interest in people wanting to take up tennis. I think it proved tennis is a game that is fun to play, sociable and a very good form of exercise.”
