●● THERE is a weekend of events planned to celebrate the 175th anniversary of Sutton St James Church.

On Saturday, July 25, the church will be opened up to visitors from 9.30am, as part of the Gift Day and Open Church event.

And in the afternoon, from 2pm until 4pm, there will be family activities and an afternoon tea.

In the evening there will be a midsummer ceilidh at the Sutton Scout and Guide HQ on Church Lane.

The event runs from 7pm until 10pm and costs £5 per person or £15 for a family ticket.

And on Sunday, July 26, there will be a service of celebration and thanksgiving for families and friends at 11am, with a choral evensong at 6.30pm.
