Pupils net a fin-tastic day

STU­DENTS net­ted a great day out with the an­nual fish­ing com­pe­ti­tion.

The pupils from Poyn­ton High School took on the chal­lenge at Goose Green Farm in Mottram St An­drew.

The com­pe­ti­tion was spon­sored by for­mer stu­dent James Green­halgh who now runs Hazel Grove Angling Cen­tre.

He do­nated sev­eral prizes for the top three stu­dents. Af­ter a full day of fish­ing the win­ners were an­nounced with Leon Grib­bon tak­ing first place, Olly Chad­wick, sec­ond and Harry Stan­ton third.

The team re­sults put Ver­non House in first po­si­tion fol­lowed by Legh, New­ton and Davenport.

Keith Wood­ing, house co-or­di­na­tor at the school, said: “The day was a great suc­cess, bring­ing stu­dents and staff to­gether for a friendly and fun match.”
