Pupils net a fin-tastic day

STUDENTS netted a great day out with the annual fishing competition.

The pupils from Poynton High School took on the challenge at Goose Green Farm in Mottram St Andrew.

The competition was sponsored by former student James Greenhalgh who now runs Hazel Grove Angling Centre.

He donated several prizes for the top three students. After a full day of fishing the winners were announced with Leon Gribbon taking first place, Olly Chadwick, second and Harry Stanton third.

The team results put Vernon House in first position followed by Legh, Newton and Davenport.

Keith Wooding, house co-ordinator at the school, said: “The day was a great success, bringing students and staff together for a friendly and fun match.”
