Kerridge take better share of spoils

- ADAM BANKS

AN away game at Ellesmere Port saw Kerridge win the toss and bat first in favourable conditions with openers Ste Regan and Adam Banks putting on 49 for the first wicket before Regan was trapped LBW for 38. Banks went next for 19 and Kerridge had a brief slump from 61/2 to 99/6 losing Josh Capper (5), John Grayston (3), Luke Wild (14) and Gareth Edwards (13).

Some fine batting late on saw Alex Grimes (57 not out), Neil Banks (22) and Phil Ravenscroft (21) see Kerridge to 211/8 after the 45 overs.

After tea the heavens opened and credit to both sides for continuing. With 30 overs played in rain many would have called the fixture off, but Groves amassed 179/4 in their overs with N Percival scoring 116, although somewhat luckily having been dropped several times.

Alex Grimes took 3/57, Gareth Edwards claiming the other wicket. Not the finest day for cricket but Kerridge claimed 12 points to the hosts’ nine.

Next weekend sees a home game against Heaton Mersey with Kerridge looking to improve on the draw they had in the previous encounter
