A group of friends got together after the explosion to form a new Bosley United football team. The players have been contacting footballers and celebrities to play them in a special upcoming match to raise money for families affected by the explosion at Wood Flour Mill. Macclesfield Town FC has now pledged to host the charity game and players from the club have also agreed to lend their skills for the day. The match will feature manager John Askey, assistant manager Efe Sodje, and a host of ex-stars such as Shaun Goater and Paul Dickov. The match will be played at the Moss Rose on Sunday, September 6 at 2pm.
Efe Sodje, who is spearheading the club’s involvement in the match, said: “Since news broke of the tragedy only a few miles from the club’s ground, everyone at the club has been talking about what happened and thinking about the victims and their families. We want to help wherever we can so we have agreed to get involved in the football match.”
