Town team is united for Bosley celebrity match

MAC­CLES­FIELD Town foot­ballers have signed up to up to take part in a char­ity match in aid of those who lost love­dones in Bosley.

A group of friends got to­gether af­ter the ex­plo­sion to form a new Bosley United football team. The play­ers have been con­tact­ing foot­ballers and celebri­ties to play them in a spe­cial up­com­ing match to raise money for fam­i­lies af­fected by the ex­plo­sion at Wood Flour Mill. Mac­cles­field Town FC has now pledged to host the char­ity game and play­ers from the club have also agreed to lend their skills for the day. The match will fea­ture man­ager John Askey, as­sis­tant man­ager Efe Sodje, and a host of ex-stars such as Shaun Goater and Paul Dickov. The match will be played at the Moss Rose on Sun­day, Septem­ber 6 at 2pm.

Efe Sodje, who is spear­head­ing the club’s in­volve­ment in the match, said: “Since news broke of the tragedy only a few miles from the club’s ground, ev­ery­one at the club has been talk­ing about what hap­pened and think­ing about the vic­tims and their fam­i­lies. We want to help wher­ever we can so we have agreed to get in­volved in the football match.”
