Name: Joe Swindells. What team are you in­volved with? Poyn­ton Football Club. Po­si­tion: Right wing or striker. How long have you been play­ing for? Poyn­ton FC – nine years. Other clubs: Styal FC and Wilm­slow Town. What do you en­joy most about it? Good club, great lads. Scor­ing, play­ing with Loz New­man ;-) How of­ten do you train? Do you train all year round? We train once a week at the Poyn­ton Sports Club. I go to the gym also to keep my­self fit. Where do you train? Poyn­ton Sports Club – ev­ery Tues­day night. What do you en­joy the most about your sport? Just play­ing football! Where and when do you meet? Depend­ing on games; if we’re away we’ll meet at the away ground one hour be­fore kick-off, or at our home ground, Poyn­ton Sports Club. What is the best thing about Mac­cles­field? Mac­Don­ald’s. What is the worst thing about Mac­cles­field? It’s al­ways cold. Sport­ing fa­cil­i­ties could be im­proved. What is the most mem­o­rable sport­sre­lated thing to have hap­pened to you? Same as my team-mates Kyle Wood­ward and Loz New­man with this one, it has to be....93:20 – ‘Agueroooooooooo! You’ll never see any­thing like this, ever again’. (We have a few City fans in the team). What has been your great­est sport­ing achieve­ment? Win­ning the league when I was 18 with Wilm­slow Town... hope­fully do this with Poyn­ton FC. Do you play any other sports? How did you be­come a vol­un­teer?: I knew the trad­ing de­vel­op­ment man­ager as she used to work at the same com­pany as me a few years ago. What do you en­joy most about your role there?: The free­dom of do­ing the hours I like, no pres­sure from man­age­ment and, of course, help­ing a worth­while or­gan­i­sa­tion, and be­cause my role is mainly selling fur­ni­ture, which I have done all my work­ing life. What has been your most mem­o­rable mo­ment while you have been volunteering?: See­ing some of the old makes of fur­ni­ture I sold years ago. Where is your favourite place in Mac­cles­field?: Pos­si­bly Weather­spoons, cheap drink­ing. Ideally how would you spend ev­ery day?: Do­ing my gar­den, re­lax­ing and help­ing oth­ers. What was the best hol­i­day you have been on?: Route 66 through Amer­ica. If money was no ob­ject what would you do?: Buy a new house. What one piece of ad­vice would you give?: Be thought­ful to peo­ple.
