Name: Joe Swindells. What team are you involved with? Poynton Football Club. Position: Right wing or striker. How long have you been playing for? Poynton FC – nine years. Other clubs: Styal FC and Wilmslow Town. What do you enjoy most about it? Good club, great lads. Scoring, playing with Loz Newman ;-) How often do you train? Do you train all year round? We train once a week at the Poynton Sports Club. I go to the gym also to keep myself fit. Where do you train? Poynton Sports Club – every Tuesday night. What do you enjoy the most about your sport? Just playing football! Where and when do you meet? Depending on games; if we’re away we’ll meet at the away ground one hour before kick-off, or at our home ground, Poynton Sports Club. What is the best thing about Macclesfie­ld? MacDonald’s. What is the worst thing about Macclesfie­ld? It’s always cold. Sporting facilities could be improved. What is the most memorable sportsrela­ted thing to have happened to you? Same as my team-mates Kyle Woodward and Loz Newman with this one, it has to be....93:20 – ‘Aguerooooo­ooooo! You’ll never see anything like this, ever again’. (We have a few City fans in the team). What has been your greatest sporting achievemen­t? Winning the league when I was 18 with Wilmslow Town... hopefully do this with Poynton FC. Do you play any other sports? Tennis and golf – badly! ●● Poynton Football Club Needs You! How did you become a volunteer?: I knew the trading developmen­t manager as she used to work at the same company as me a few years ago. What do you enjoy most about your role there?: The freedom of doing the hours I like, no pressure from management and, of course, helping a worthwhile organisati­on, and because my role is mainly selling furniture, which I have done all my working life. What has been your most memorable moment while you have been volunteeri­ng?: Seeing some of the old makes of furniture I sold years ago. Where is your favourite place in Macclesfie­ld?: Possibly Weatherspo­ons, cheap drinking. Ideally how would you spend every day?: Doing my garden, relaxing and helping others. What was the best holiday you have been on?: Route 66 through America. If money was no object what would you do?: Buy a new house. What one piece of advice would you give?: Be thoughtful to people.
