Ev­ery­body Sport and Recre­ation, which runs Poyn­ton Leisure Cen­tre, closed the pool ear­lier this month for im­prove­ment work.

It will not open again un­til early Septem­ber.

Among the projects is the re­place­ment of all the pool tiles.

A spokesman for Ev­ery­body Sport and Recre­ation said: “There is never a good time to close a pool but com­plet­ing this work now will en­sure the pool is open for both the public and schools in early Septem­ber.

“Ev­ery­body cus­tomers are able to use both Mac­cles­field and Wilm­slow dur­ing the clo­sure.

“Ev­ery­body mem­ber­ship terms and con­di­tions ap­ply.”

Res­i­dents have re­ported a se­ries of crimes be­tween July 19-21. These in­clude a num­ber of thefts from in­se­cure cars, two re­ports of garages en­tered and items stolen, and two vans dam­aged when thieves tried to steal tools.

Po­lice said they have also had a re­port of a cat­alytic con­verter stolen from a Mercedes Vito van.

The tar­geted ar­eas are: Trafal­gar Av­enue, Ch­est­nut Drive, Elm Close, Cedar Close, Brook­side Av­enue, Park Lane, Glen­field Drive and Buck­ing­ham Road.
