EX­HI­BI­TION

MAC­CLES­FIELD football sup­port­ers are hard at work cel­e­brat­ing the town’s silk in­dus­try.

Macc Town fans have got to­gether with an artist for the Home Ground ex­hi­bi­tion, cur­rently on dis­play at the Silk Mu­seum, which cel­e­brates the cul­tural her­itage of six towns whose football team’s nick­names come from lo­cal craft in­dus­tries.

The first stage of the tour fea­tures art­work us­ing lo­cally sourced ma­te­ri­als. The sec­ond stage, due to start in 2016, will be cre­ated by fans of each of the six teams in­volved.

Rose Smith, event co-or­di­na­tor at Mac­cles­field Mu­se­ums said: “Sup­port­ers of Mac­cles­field Town Football Club vis­ited the mu­seum last week with artist Zoe Hillyard. They are now work­ing to­gether on ce­ramic art pieces which will be dis­played at the Silk Mu­seum next year when the ex­hi­bi­tion re­turns.”

The ex­hi­bi­tion is on dis­play at the Silk Mu­seum un­til Septem­ber 5.
