MACCLESFIELD football supporters are hard at work celebrating the town’s silk industry.

Macc Town fans have got together with an artist for the Home Ground exhibition, currently on display at the Silk Museum, which celebrates the cultural heritage of six towns whose football team’s nicknames come from local craft industries.

The first stage of the tour features artwork using locally sourced materials. The second stage, due to start in 2016, will be created by fans of each of the six teams involved.

Rose Smith, event co-ordinator at Macclesfield Museums said: “Supporters of Macclesfield Town Football Club visited the museum last week with artist Zoe Hillyard. They are now working together on ceramic art pieces which will be displayed at the Silk Museum next year when the exhibition returns.”

The exhibition is on display at the Silk Museum until September 5.
