●● MAC­CLES­FIELD Cricket Club has raised £600 for East Cheshire Hos­pice with its an­nual ladies lunch event.

The event at the ground on Vic­to­ria Road in­clud­ing a three-course meal cooked by Michelle Platt, caterer at the club, and her team.

This year the club had a raf­fle in aid of the hos­pice in mem­ory of a the late Sylvia Hol­land, a mem­ber of the cricket club Ladies Lunch reg­u­lar, who also vol­un­teered at the hos­pice. The raf­fle had do­na­tions from P.R Jones The Jew­ellers, Mac­cles­field, RS Hig­gin­botham Haulage, Rail­way Inn Con­gle­ton, Nails and Beauty by Jo­hanna, The Sut­ton Game­keeper, DV8 Con­gle­ton, TTS Meats, Ch­ester­gate Cos­met­ics among oth­ers.

Claire Hughes from the cricket club said: “Sylvia was a lovely lady and vol­un­teered at the hos­pice and was a great friend to my mother. The weather was lovely the cricket was great with Mac­cles­field 1st Team beat­ing Marple, and to top it all off we raised a fan­tas­tic £600 for East Cheshire Hos­pice. I want to thank all the lo­cal busi­nesses for their kind do­na­tion.” ●● THE Silk Trader on Brook Street will host a north­ern soul and mo­town night on Au­gust 28.
