Three-legged walk is in aid of tot Charlotte
FAMILIES in Poynton are being encouraged to take part in three-legged fun walk in support of a disabled girl.
Charlotte Taylor, three, has cerebral palsy and is unable to walk, sit or stand unaided.
Her parents are trying to raise £80,000 for a life-changing operation in America to help her walk.
Now friends of the family, who live in Wilmslow, have organised a charity walk in Poynton on August 30.
Charlotte will even be finishing off the walk in her Upsee, a device which helps her to walk supported by an adult.
And to make it even more special, Peppa Pig and Rapunzel will be there to celebrate at the finish line.
The walk starts at Waitrose in Poynton from 11.30am and finishes at the Thief’s Neck in Woodford, where there will be a party including garden games and a raffle.
The walk is almost 2.5 miles and will see fundraisers collecting cash using charity buckets.
Charlotte’s dad Cameron said: “The idea of the three-legged walk came from our friend Victoria Nixsons who wanted to know how it would feel to only be able to walk attached to another person.
“This is a fun walk, not at all serious. We will even let off cheating if it gets too hard. It’s just for fun and to support Charlotte’s Wish to Walk campaign.
“Even if you don’t have a partner come along and join in the walk. You are welcome to come in fancy dress, anything that makes the day more fun for everyone.”
To get involved in the walk there is a £5 donation per person, which will go straight to Charlotte’s campaign.
Charlotte has a twin brother Daniel. They were born eight weeks premature. Charlotte suffered a bleed to the brain sometime during the birth, which caused damage to both sides of her brain.
The family are aiming to raise £80,000 for the operation, ongoing therapy and equipment through a registered charity called The Tree of Hope.
