£70k hall refurbishment
SPORTS players are enjoying a new hall floor at Macclesfield Leisure Centre after a £70,000 refurbishment.
Bosses reopened the sports hall this week after a two-week closure for the work to replace the floor and make other improvements to doors and seating.
The floor was in a poor condition so has been replaced by a new polyurethane surface which is known to have a high level of elasticity for a better playing surface for activities including badminton, football, netball, table tennis and roller skating.
It will allow the centre to host more functions with staging and seating areas.
Mike Harding, general area manager for Macclesfield and Poynton at Everybody Sport and Recreation, a charitable trust which operates the leisure centre, said: “The sports hall was in great need of a refurbishment so it was important when speaking with Cheshire East Council Assets team that it was made a high priority so we could continue to provide a high standard of facilities.
“We’ve already had feedback from our badminton players who have commented on the difference the flooring makes to their play.”
