Young shine over jobs and training
CHESHIRE East has one of the lowest numbers of young people who are not in education or employment.
Figures for July show Cheshire East Council has the lowest level of NEETS – young people who are not in education, employment or training – in the north west, with just three per cent not in any kind of employment or training.
Cheshire East Council leader Michael Jones said this is down to good schools and a successful Youth Support Service offered by the council.
He said: “We are very encouraged by the latest release of figures and will continue to give young people across Cheshire East the best start in life.
“This includes providing them with the support they need to find work and training opportunities so they have a brighter future because, as part of our council pledge to the local community, ‘Every Child Matters’.
Initiatives include youth clubs and projects to help young people engage in learning or training post-16.
