Museums are on course to bring lots of learning

SUMMER holidays may be over but the town’s museums still have plenty of fun in store.

Macclesfie­ld Museums have announced new day-long art courses for adults after its kids’ sessions were such a hit over the summer.

The selection of workshops will be led by the Wilmslow Guild at the Old Sunday School, ranging from cushion making to the history of Elizabeth Gaskell, textile art to calligraph­y for beginners.

Alongside these courses the museums are offering courses in: creative writing with author Julia Stagg; Silk the art of natural dyeing; ‘Have-ADabble’ art course for beginners and improvers; ‘Make It’ day-course to create a floral headdress, silver pendant and fabric lantern.

The ‘Have a Dabble’ course runs from 9am-12noon or 12.303.30pm and is ongoing.

Silk and the Art of Natural Dyeing takes place on Saturday, September 12, from 10am-4pm. Booking is essential.
