●● A SHOWCASE event will take place at Bollington Arts Centre.

The event on Friday, September 18 will be hosted by chairman Bruce Kendrick to celebrate some of the past highlights from the centre.

There will be some announceme­nts about plans for the future and the committee promises a few surprises.

Drinks and nibbles will be provided at the event.

The event starts at 7.30pm. ●● A PROLIFIC figure on the English folk scene will perform at the next Bollington Folk Club.

John Kirkpatric­k will perform on Friday, September 18 at the Dog and Partridge pub. It starts at 8.30pm, John performs solo, in duos, acoustic groups and electric bands and has establishe­d a reputation as an instrument­al virtuoso and session musician, as well as a leading interprete­r of English folk music.

Admission costs £7, with no advance tickets.

The Piattis are amongst the UK’s foremost young string quartets, with a host of awards and critically-acclaimed recordings to their name.

They will perform at 8pm at Bollington Arts Centre.

Tickets cost £15. ●● A HOST of events are coming up as part of this year’s Bollington Walking Festival.

The festival has been brought forward to run from Saturday, September 26 to Sunday, October 4.

There will be 38 walks of lengths from 1 to 20 miles aimed at all ages and a variety of other events taking place in the town.
