●● POYNTON Town Council is joining forces with Poynton In Business in the hunt to find the best firms and employees in Poynton.
The PACE Awards are now in their third year and celebrate all Poynton businesses, shops and restaurants.
They are voted for by residents. This year, as an incentive to vote, Poynton Town Council is offering all voters the chance to win £50 or £100 in shopping vouchers which can be spent locally. There will also be a prize of £75 of vouchers for the person named Poynton Employee of the Year.
Nomination forms are available from Poynton Civic Hall or the Poynton in Business website.
The closing date for nominations is Friday, October 9.
The awards will be presented at the Poynton In Business annual dinner at Davenport Golf Club on Friday, November 20. ●● AN appeal has been launched to boost the number of bed and breakfasts in Poynton.
Poynton Town Council is encouraging anyone with a spare room to check out the website visitengland.com which gives practical information on where to get help when starting up, securing funding, how to hire staff, take card payments, and understanding legal obligations.
A spokesman for the council said: “There is a dearth of bed and breakfast accommodation in Poynton or indeed in the immediate surrounding area.
“This could represent a business opportunity for someone with one or more spare rooms, who is able to become suitably registered, thereby filling a gap in the market and helping to promote Poynton’s visitor economy.” ●● GROUPS are being offered to hire the Town Council’s eight-seater minibus.
